Even compared to the Xbox One's performance in its fourth year, the Series X/S sales are dramatically lower.
This underwhelming performance isn't entirely surprising, given Microsoft's strategic shift away from a console-centric approach. The company's decision to release first-party titles on other platforms reduces the exclusivity advantage of owning an Xbox Series X/S. While Microsoft clarifies this cross-platform strategy applies to select titles only, many gamers perceive less incentive to purchase an Xbox when key titles are available elsewhere. This perception is amplified by the less frequent release of first-party exclusives on Xbox compared to competitors.
