"It's about giving the player moment-to-moment opportunities to express and explore where they're leaning," she explains.The narrative unfolds as players navigate the political landscape of The Living Lands within the larger world of Eora, investigating a spiritual plague as an envoy of the Aedyran Empire. "Giving players things to dig into—that's what makes it meaningful roleplay," Patel says. Your actions and discoveries directly influence the outcomes, shaping who your character becomes.
Beyond the narrative choices, Avowed boasts strategic combat that seamlessly blends magic, swords, and firearms. Weapon and ability choices create vastly different gameplay experiences with each playthrough.
Furthermore, Patel confirmed to IGN that the game features a multitude of endings, with numerous combinations possible depending on player choices throughout the game. She reveals a double-digit number of ending slides, highlighting the significant impact of player decisions on the ultimate outcome. "This is an Obsidian game, so your ending really is the sum total of your choices across the game," Patel concludes.
