Call of Duty: Black Ops 6's Directed Mode Doubles Main Quest Completion Rate

Activision reports a significant boost in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies main quest completion rates thanks to the introduction of Directed Mode. While many players prioritize survival in the wave-based Zombies mode, Directed Mode has successfully engaged a larger player base in the overarching storyline.

Since its inception in World at War, the Call of Duty Zombies mode has featured a progressively complex narrative. Despite a decline in the overall Black Ops 6 player base, the Zombies mode maintains a dedicated community. However, the focus on upgrading weaponry and surviving waves often overshadows story completion.

The Season 1 update introduced Directed Mode, designed to improve story engagement. Data from 480 million hours of gameplay reveals a dramatic increase in main quest completion, jumping from 4% to 8.23% since the November 14th release of Directed Mode. This represents a doubling of completions, a success for Treyarch's design goals. However, with over 90% of players still not completing the main quest, Treyarch acknowledges ongoing efforts to further enhance engagement.
