Wolcen Studio announces Project Pantheon, a free-to-play action RPG incorporating extraction shooter mechanics. A closed alpha test begins January 25th in Europe, expanding to North America on February 1st.
Game director Andrei Cirkulete describes the game as a fusion of "the tension and risk-reward of an extraction shooter with the battle dynamics of a combat RPG," hinting at influences from titles like Diablo and Escape from Tarkov. Player feedback is highly valued during this alpha phase.
Players assume the role of a Death messenger, striving to restore order to a ravaged world. Gameplay involves battling AI and other players across diverse maps. Successful evacuations preserve earned trophies; failure results in complete loot loss.
Customization is a core feature, allowing players to build their own bases, personalize gear, and experiment with various playstyles. The game world draws inspiration from global mythologies, with player trading forming the backbone of its economy.
The initial adventure unfolds in "Destiny's Edge," a region inspired by Scandinavian folklore. Despite being in early alpha, the developers pledge active community engagement to shape the game's development.
