Ncuti Gatwa has stepped down from Doctor Who, with Billie Piper seemingly taking over as the Time Lord – but viewers suspect there's more to the story.

The season finale marked Gatwa's departure after 18 episodes as the Fifteenth Doctor, regenerating into a form portrayed by former cast member Billie Piper.

However, is Piper truly playing the Doctor? The closing credits listed both Gatwa and returning guest star Jodie Whittaker as "The Doctor," while Piper was simply credited as "And introducing Billie Piper" without specifying her role.
