The Running Man's first trailer has arrived, featuring Glen Powell in a fresh adaptation that stays truer to Stephen King's original novel than Arnold Schwarzenegger's iconic 1987 sci-fi film.

As shown in the trailer, Powell portrays Ben Richards—a desperate father pushed into joining America's most-watched dystopian game show to pay for his daughter's medical care after being blacklisted from employment. This contrasts with Schwarzenegger's version, where Richards was framed as a rogue cop.

The game mechanics also differ significantly. Powell's Richards becomes a nationwide target pursued by viewers, with survival offering a massive cash prize if he evades capture for 30 days. The trailer highlights how every movement is tracked—though triumph won't come easily.

Directed by Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Baby Driver), this reimagining carries his trademark kinetic energy. Wright prioritized novel accuracy, introducing Josh Brolin as showrunner Damon Killian while Colman Domingo's Bobby Thompson hosts the deadly broadcast. A vengeful Richards exchanges sharp words with Killian before the hunt begins.

Expanding beyond the '87 film's confined battleground, Powell's cross-country chase features intense sequences—like dodging gunfire through apartments before escaping via elevator shaft.

The masked enforcer McCone (Lee Pace) stalks Richards relentlessly—one of several deadly obstacles.
