Switch Shader Compilation Mode

NetEase is set to launch an experimental feature to enhance Marvel Rivals’ stability and reduce memory consumption. In a post on X on April 30, Marvel Rivals revealed the upcoming Switch Shader Compilation Mode, designed to improve gameplay, particularly for players with lower RAM or those facing FPS issues.

The developers shared a blog post on their website, outlining details of this experimental feature. It acknowledges player concerns about performance stutters and crashes caused by high memory usage during gameplay.

The blog states, “To tackle memory overload, we’re introducing an experimental feature in Season 2: the Switch Shader Compilation Mode. Players can enable it via the PC launcher with the Season 2 update.” This feature is ideal for systems with 16GB of RAM or less.

When activated, the feature delivers the following improvements:

　●　Shader compilation runs only when launching the game after a new version or graphics driver update.
　●　Memory usage is significantly reduced, minimizing severe FPS drops, frozen visuals, and crashes due to memory shortages.

Developers noted potential issues, such as materials rendering abnormally for a few frames at the start of matches, though they normalize quickly. Minor stutters may occur but typically resolve during gameplay.

Marvel Rivals Season 2 Twitch Drops

Marvel Rivals kicks off Season 2 with a Twitch Drops campaign running from April 11 at 12:00 UTC to April 30 at 23:59 UTC. Players can earn rewards by linking their Marvel Rivals and Twitch accounts and watching streams with Drops enabled.

Marvel Rivals Season 2 Launches Soon

The latest Dev Vision for Marvel Rivals previewed the Season 2 Hellfire Gala, announcing shorter seasons and a new hero each month.

In a few hours, Marvel Rivals will undergo maintenance for Season 2, starting April 11 at 9:00 UTC and lasting 2 to 3 hours.

The update introduces Emma Frost as a new playable character, with her X-Revolution and Blue Sapphire skins. It also features a new Domination map, Hellfire Gala: Krakoa, and a battle pass with 10 new heroic costume sets.
