Capcom is optimizing Monster Hunter Wilds for improved performance and reduced GPU requirements before launch. This follows feedback from the October/November 2024 beta test, which revealed performance issues and low-poly character models on PC.

The German Monster Hunter Twitter (X) account announced performance improvements, particularly for the PS5's Prioritize Framerate mode, and confirmed similar efforts for the PC version, aiming to lower the recommended GPU requirements. Currently, minimum GPU requirements are NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Super and AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT. Lowering these requirements would significantly broaden the game's accessibility.

A free benchmarking tool is also planned to help players determine optimal settings and PC compatibility.

The initial beta test highlighted several performance problems, including low-poly models and frame rate drops, even on high-end PCs. While some players achieved better performance, it often came at the cost of visual quality. Capcom acknowledged these issues, stating that improvements were made, particularly addressing afterimage noise.

A second open beta test, scheduled for February 7-10 and 14-17 (PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam), will feature Gypceros and a new monster. Whether these recent performance updates will be included in this beta remains to be seen.

The focus on optimization suggests a commitment to delivering a smoother, more accessible experience for all players.
