Square Enix Announces NieR 15th Anniversary Special Novel

Square Enix marked the 15th anniversary of NieR with a series of exciting announcements during their livestream on April 19. A highlight was the introduction of the NieR online Special Novel, titled [U]ndecided Option. This novel will unfold over three updates, with the first already accessible, and the subsequent updates scheduled for April 25 and May 2. The novel teases an intriguing plot where a 'servant' encounters a mysterious boy, setting the stage for an engaging narrative.

To complement this announcement, Square Enix unveiled a dedicated 15th Anniversary website, serving as a hub for the online special novel and a gateway to all upcoming anniversary-related projects and events.

Exhibition, Concerts, Merchandise, and More

Square Enix is set to captivate fans with an exhibition at Sunshine City in Ikebukuro, Japan, showcasing new artwork of the protagonists from NieR: Replicant, NieR: Automata, and NieR Re[in]carnation. Details on tickets and other logistics will be shared in due course.

Music enthusiasts can look forward to additional performances of the NieR: Orchestra Concert 12024, scheduled for Osaka on July 25 and 26, and Tokyo on August 2 and 3. Tickets are currently available through a lottery system, with more information on the concert's official website.

The merchandise lineup is equally exciting, featuring a jazz album from NieR: Dinner Show – Somethin’ or Other 12024, slated for release in December 2024. Starting April 28, NieR Re[in]carnation, the first mobile title in the NieR series released in January 2021 and discontinued in April 2024 due to monetization challenges, will launch a developer blog. Monthly updates throughout the year will delve into the creation process behind Re[in]carnation, stirring curiosity among fans about potential future developments like a sequel or remake, though no official confirmations have been made.

The livestream concluded with a captivating 20+ minute live performance, featuring iconic soundtracks from the NieR franchise. Square Enix promises more exciting events and merchandise announcements for NieR fans in the near future.
