New Pope Watches Conclave Movie, Plays Games While Awaiting Election

If you've ever wondered how a prospective Pope spends his downtime, look no further; according to a close family member, the recently elected Pope Leo XIV enjoys gaming and watching movies, much like many of us.

As previously reported, Edward Berger's gripping papal thriller, Conclave, captivated audiences last year. Its remarkably accurate depiction of the papal election process has been acknowledged by real-life religious leaders, including those involved in the actual conclave to elect the new Pope. This includes Robert Francis Prevost, now known as Pope Leo XIV.

In an interview with NBC, Pope Leo XIV's older brother, John Prevost, shared insights from their last conversation before Robert's appointment. They discussed their daily routine of playing word games like Wordle and Words with Friends, confirming that Pope Leo XIV is indeed a gamer. John also inquired if his brother had watched the movie Conclave for any tips on the upcoming conclave.

"He had just finished watching the movie Conclave," John revealed. "So he knew how to behave. We talked about that kind of stuff to take his mind off the conclave and share a laugh."

PlayDirected by Edward Berger, the BAFTA and Oscar-winning film *Conclave* delves into one of the world's most secretive and ancient events — the selection of a new Pope. The movie follows Cardinal Lawrence (played by Ralph Fiennes), who oversees the covert process following the unexpected death of the beloved Pope. As the Catholic Church's most influential leaders gather from around the globe and are confined within the Vatican, Lawrence uncovers a conspiracy and a secret that could threaten the very foundation of the Church.
