Will Wright, the visionary behind The Sims, recently offered a deeper look into his new AI-powered life simulation game, Proxi, during a Twitch livestream. This innovative title, initially unveiled in 2018, is finally taking shape under the development banner of Gallium Studio. The stream, hosted by BreakthroughT1D, a leading organization in type 1 diabetes research, provided exciting new insights.

A Deep Dive into Personalized Gaming

Proxi is described as an "AI life sim built from your memories." Players input personal memories as paragraphs, which the game then transforms into animated scenes. These scenes are customizable using in-game assets for a more accurate representation. Each memory, referred to as a "mem," enhances the game's AI, populating the player's "mind world"—a 3D hexagonal environment ripe for exploration and interaction.

This mind world expands as more mems are added, also becoming populated with Proxies representing friends and family. Memories can be arranged chronologically and linked to specific Proxies to reflect the context of each recollection. Remarkably, these Proxies are even exportable to other game platforms such as Minecraft and Roblox!

Wright emphasized the game's focus on creating "magical connections with memories, bringing them to life." This personal approach, built around the player's own experiences, is central to Proxi's design. He humorously noted, "No game designer has ever gone wrong by overestimating the narcissism of their players," suggesting that the more the game centers around the player, the more engaging it becomes.
