"Witcher Animated Movie Hits Netflix in February"
The Witcher's Newest Spinoff Animated Movie
Get ready for an exciting addition to The Witcher universe! Netflix is set to release a new animated spinoff movie titled "The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep" on February 11, 2025. This eagerly anticipated film draws its inspiration from "A Little Sacrifice," a short story penned by the renowned Andrzej Sapkowski, featured in the collection "Sword of Destiny."
Set in a Seaside Village in the Continent
The setting for this thrilling adventure is a picturesque seaside village embroiled in a centuries-old conflict between humans and merpeople. This unique backdrop diverges from the typical monster encounters, such as Basilisks and Cockatrices, that fans of the series are accustomed to. Instead, viewers will witness Geralt of Rivia, the famed Witcher, facing off against the formidable merpeople.

Doug Cockle returns to voice the iconic character of Geralt, ensuring fans experience the familiar gruffness and depth that define the Witcher. Joining him are Joey Batey and Anya Chalotra, reprising their roles as Jaskier and Yennefer of Vengerberg, respectively. Adding to the ensemble cast is Christina Wren, known from the Will Trent TV series, who will voice the new character Essi Daven.
The creative genius behind the Witcher novels, Andrzej Sapkowski, serves as a consultant for the film, ensuring its fidelity to the source material. The script is penned by Mike Ostrowski and Rae Benjamin, both seasoned writers from the live-action series. Directing this animated masterpiece is Kang Hei Chul, previously the storyboard artist for "The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf."
Takes Place During Season 1 of The Witcher's Live-Adaptation Series
"The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep" seamlessly integrates into the timeline of the live-action series, occurring between episodes 5 and 6 of Season 1. In the preceding episode, "Bottled Appetites," Geralt and Yennefer reunite in the Redanian city of Rinde after a dramatic encounter with a Djinn. Following their reunion, Geralt is commissioned by a mysterious kingdom to tackle a monster-related issue along its shores.

Given Rinde's proximity to the shores of Redania and Temeria, the film's setting is likely nestled between these nations. Specifically, it may unfold in Bremervoord City, located in Temeria and governed by Duke Agloval, as suggested by the original short story. Fans will soon discover whether the movie faithfully adheres to the narrative of "A Little Sacrifice" or introduces new elements to the beloved Witcher saga.
