This simple, non-field RPG challenges you to escape a cursed forest.
- Prologue -
You're the village's best hunter, drawn to a national hunting tournament near the royal capital. Full of enthusiasm, you ventured into the forest the day before the opening ceremony. Waking after your first night camping, you discover something unsettling: everyone's gone. Only the remnants of a large hunter encampment remain, guarded by national guards who were overseeing the tournament. No one is in sight.
Cautiously, you begin to walk, only to encounter another strange phenomenon. A tree with unusual branches… haven't you just seen this spot? You were heading north, aiming to return to your entry point, but you seem to be back where you started. As a skilled hunter, this is unnerving. Your usually impeccable sense of direction has failed you. Whether you stay or go, you remain in the same place. This is beyond strange. Fighting panic, you press on deeper into the forest.
- What is the "Elven Curse"? -
With the help of a quarter-elf, you, the hunter, must escape this cursed forest. This incredibly simple RPG uses a maximum of three buttons at any given time (excluding the main menu).
- Character Creation -
While manual customization isn't available, you can reroll your stats as often as you like. The stat increase rate upon leveling up is only visible on this screen and can't be checked in-game; it serves as a return item. When your "talismans" fall below two, and your life force reaches zero, it's game over.
- Peddler Quarter-Elf "Foria" -
A boy (?), encountered in the forest, who calls himself a quarter-elf, claiming to be older than you. Though seemingly uninvolved in the curse, Foria secretly aids your escape using the power of ancient forest spirits.
- Scenario and Presentation -
The prologue unfolds smoothly like a visual novel, with Foria's dialogue presented in a cheerful tone. The game's world is revealed through understated, evocative language.
- Exploration Mode -
Forest routes connecting base areas are revealed through exploration. By exploring all unexplored areas in each section, you can progress. The results of each exploration attempt depend on the area's "fog depth," influenced by your character's stats. If your life force is depleted, use poison and other remedies to restore it. You might need to use rare "talismans" or return to Foria.
- Beast Encounters & Hunter Battles -
Ferocious beasts roam the forest, including wild dogs, wolves, and surprisingly, even frogs and rabbits. Killing them yields hides that can be traded with Foria. Unlike typical RPGs, there's no leveling up through combat. The goal is to escape. There are no set boss battles; all encounters can be avoided (though this requires luck or strategic play).
As a hunter, you use a bow and arrow. You can only shoot from a safe distance, allowing attacks without counterattacks. Closing the distance, however, exposes you to a one-sided attack. You can either withdraw to regain distance or use a "flash" ball provided by Foria for a guaranteed escape. Successful withdrawal depends on your stats.
- Cloak & Layering System -
Using gathered branches, resin, and leather, you create a cloak that enhances your abilities. Up to three layers can be added, with the ability increase being the sum of all layers. In rare cases, the cloak may restore vitality. Note that the top layer can be damaged and eventually tear. The bow and arrow are your only constant weapon; there are no weapon variations.
This is not just a game; it's an experience. It’s a game of chance, strategy, skill, and reflexes, involving item collection, synthesis, and alchemy. It’s a game where preparation is key, yet it remains relaxing and allows for progress even with casual play.
- Autosave -
The game features an autosave system, though the timing is not consistent (e.g., not during battles). For reliable saving, close the app from the base menu.
