Ubisoft's CEO, Yves Guillemot, recently confirmed the development of multiple Assassin's Creed remakes. This announcement, made during a Ubisoft website interview, sheds light on the future of the popular franchise.

A Regular Stream of Diverse AC Experiences

Guillemot's interview revealed plans for several Assassin's Creed remakes, although specific titles remain undisclosed. He emphasized the opportunity to revisit and modernize older games, stating, "Players can look forward to several remakes, allowing us to revisit past titles and modernize them; some older Assassin's Creed worlds are incredibly rich." This suggests a revitalization of classic entries.

Beyond remakes, Guillemot promised a diverse range of experiences in the coming years. He explained, "We aim for more regular Assassin's Creed releases, but with varied gameplay each year."

Upcoming titles like Assassin's Creed Hexe (targeting a 2026 release) and Assassin's Creed Shadows (releasing November 15, 2024) promise unique gameplay experiences. Hexe is set in 16th-century Europe, while Shadows takes place in feudal Japan. Assassin's Creed Jade, a mobile title, is slated for a 2025 launch.

Ubisoft has a history of remastering its classics, including Assassin’s Creed: The Ezio Collection (2016) and Assassin’s Creed Rogue Remastered (2018). Rumors of an Assassin's Creed Black Flag remake have circulated, but remain unconfirmed by Ubisoft.

Ubisoft Embraces Generative AI

Guillemot also discussed technological advancements in game development. He highlighted Assassin's Creed Shadows' dynamic weather system, impacting gameplay and visuals. He further expressed strong belief in generative AI's potential to enhance game worlds.

Guillemot stated, "Technology is rapidly evolving, offering endless possibilities. Assassin's Creed Shadows, for example, features a weather system affecting gameplay; previously swimmable ponds may freeze."

He added, "Visually, the series is making significant strides. I've also championed generative AI's potential to create more intelligent, interactive NPCs. This could extend to animals and the environment itself, creating even more dynamic open worlds."
