Concord: Post-Launch Roadmap and Gameplay Strategies Revealed

Sony and Firewalk Studios have unveiled Concord's post-launch content roadmap, confirming a steady stream of updates beginning on launch day, August 23rd (PS5 and PC). Unlike many hero shooters, Concord will not feature a battle pass.

No Battle Pass, Focus on Core Gameplay

The developers opted against a battle pass system, prioritizing a rewarding base experience. Leveling up accounts and characters, and completing objectives, will unlock meaningful rewards.

Season 1: The Tempest (October 2024)

Concord's first season, "The Tempest," promises a new Freegunner character, a fresh map, additional Freegunner Variants, and new cosmetics. Weekly Cinematic Vignettes will expand the Northstar crew's storyline. A cosmetic-only in-game store will also launch, offering additional customization options without affecting gameplay.

Season 2 and Beyond

Season 2 is scheduled for January 2025, with further seasonal updates planned throughout Concord's first year.

Gameplay Strategies and Crew Builder

Game Director Ryan Ellis shared insights into optimal gameplay. Concord's "Crew Builder" system allows players to create teams of five unique Freegunners, with the option to include up to three copies of a Freegunner's Variants. This encourages diverse team compositions to unlock Crew Bonuses boosting mobility, weapon recoil, cooldowns, and more.

Unlike traditional roles, Concord's Freegunners are designed for high DPS in direct combat. Six roles—Anchor, Breacher, Haunt, Ranger, Tactician, and Warden—define their battlefield impact, focusing on area control, strategic positioning, and flanking maneuvers. Building a balanced crew across these roles is key to maximizing effectiveness.
