inZOI Dev Removes Denuvo DRM After Apology

The developers of inZOI have issued an apology for incorporating Denuvo DRM into their game and have committed to its removal. This decision comes after numerous reports surfaced about the presence of Denuvo in the Creative Studio mode demo, sparking widespread controversy due to the software's impact on game performance. Denuvo, a DRM and anti-tamper technology, aims to curb unauthorized copying and distribution of PC games, but it has often been criticized for hindering gameplay.
In a Steam blog post dated March 26, inZOI Director Hyungjun 'Kjun' Kim announced that the Early Access build, slated for release on Friday, will exclude DRM technology. "We initially chose to implement Denuvo as a way to protect the game from illegal distribution. At the time, we believed this would help ensure fairness for players who had properly purchased the game. However, after taking a closer look at community feedback, we quickly realized that this approach did not align with what our players wanted," Kjun explained. He also apologized for not informing players about Denuvo's inclusion in the Creative Studio mode, acknowledging that while removing DRM might increase the risk of the game being cracked and distributed illegally, it would enhance inZOI's configurability. "We believe enabling this freedom from the very beginning will lead to innovative and long-lasting enjoyment for the community," he added.
inZOI Will No Longer Have Denuvo DRM
The removal of Denuvo aligns with inZOI's goal to be a highly moddable game, which was a surprising move given Denuvo's reputation for complicating modding. Kjun reiterated the team's commitment to modding, stating, "As I mentioned during the Online Showcase, we are committed to making inZOI a highly moddable game. Our first stage of official mod support will launch in May, allowing players to use tools like Maya and Blender to create custom content. But this is only the beginning. Over time, we plan to expand mod support across more areas of the game, so you can customize and enhance your experience in many different ways."
He further mentioned that a separate post would provide more details on modding. Krafton's focus remains on prioritizing player feedback and making necessary adjustments to deliver a top-notch gaming experience.
inZOI Being A Highly Moddable Game
inZOI is scheduled for an Early Access release on March 28, 2025, on PC, with plans for a full launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The exact date for the full release remains undisclosed. For the latest updates on inZOI, be sure to check out our related article.
