“作为创作者，我对此感到非常高兴，”土屋在10月4日的一系列推文中说道。“已经23年了！即使你不了解原版，你也可以直接享受重制版。” 他对新一代玩家体验扭曲的寂静岭2小镇的潜力尤其感到兴奋。

所指的额外头饰是作为预购奖励内容包含的米拉犬和金字塔头面具。前者是对原版著名隐藏结局的参考，而后者则基于反派金字塔头。土屋可能觉得游戏的预购内容可能会导致玩家在最初的游戏过程中佩戴上述面具，从而可能削弱游戏叙事本来的冲击力。这些面具对粉丝来说可能很有趣，但土屋却不太热衷。“这个宣传会吸引谁呢？”他说。
土屋对重制版的总体赞扬表明，Bloober Team 确实抓住了原版《寂静岭2》恐怖之处，同时也为现代观众提供了经典故事的新面貌。Game8 为游戏打出了92分，并指出“重制版不仅仅是恐怖；它留下了深刻的情感冲击，以一种在字幕结束后仍会挥之不去的方式融合了恐惧和悲伤。”
